after setting the value to 7 you should allow only the read permission of the DCI key for everyone, then the value will be kept even after the machine restart

Thank you Zeljko for the solution. However, right now we are having the same problem with the Ultrasonic all over again... Everytime, we set the timeout value to 7, it just reverts to 0 after reboot... Could it have something to do with GDI hook interfering with the display drivers, do you think changing to screenscrape mode would help?

Well i would like to try this because i have same problem. But my register does not keep that value when i reboot. Don't know much about the register but would like to learn.
